It’s opening party season (woohoo!) and it’s been a sporty week down at Boats Ibiza HQ featuring a bunch of top footballers on boats in Ibiza!
To begin the week, we had the absolute pleasure to host ace, premier league, Dutch footballer, Royston Drenthe, who brought his wife, son and a few friends on board to cruise the coast of Ibiza for sunset.
Royston is an absolute gent and his boat of choice was the 49′ Sunseeker Portofino. A real family man, father of 5, who obviously doted on his only son (a natural captain, oo aar!) and was more than happy to chat to the Boats Ibiza bloggers about his history as a footballer.
Royston was first scouted at the tender age of 7. Yes, 7!!! In his home town of Rotterdam. A real child prodigy and a true international, he went on to play for Feyenoord, Sparta, Real Madrid, Everton and many more.
Check out Royston’s Instagram page right here.
We asked Royston what advice he’d give to young footballers, hoping to make it big.
“A lot of people are going to tell you what to do. It’s good to listen to advice from others. But in the end, you have to listen to your instincts. You have to know what’s right for you. Trust yourself.”
Uuuuffff! That’s wisdom!
We asked how much you should train, if you want to make the big leagues.
“Two hours a day. My son, (he’s 7) he trains for 2 hours, 5 or 6 days per week. That’s optimum.”
Advice from the top of the game, ladies and gents 🙂
Given his international background, we asked him his favourite places in the world.
“To Live? It’s got to be Dubai. My wife and children loved it there. It’s an amazing quality of life. To come on holiday? It’s got to be Ibiza. I love it here! I come whenever I get the chance. From the heart? It will always be Rotterdam, my home town.”
And his favorite DJs?
“The Martinez brothers and Marco Carola. I love their style”
100% agree and actually, we realized we were all going to CircoLoco at DC10 the next day!
Just a few days later, we hosted Leeds United’s Luke Ayling with a bunch of his best mates, on our 60′ Sunseeker Predator. We’d love to tell you what they got up to ladies and gents, but we cannot. We can only show you this one photo, featuring the legendary Cap’n Murphy. Cap’n Murphy would rather chop off his own right arm, than divulge any boaty secrets.
And just a couple of days later, opting for a full day charter to Formentera, once again on our 60ft Sunseeker Predator were no less than 3 members of AC Milan. 3 top footballers & their gorgeous ladies. There they all are in our cover photo – Mario Borini, Mateo Musacchio & Ricardo Rodriguez – all happily posing with our beloved Captain Murph.
And it’s only June!
