The Spanish National Meteorological Agency (AEMET) issued a yellow alert today for high temperatures across the Balearic islands this week. According to Wikipedia, a yellow alert means:
«Yellow: Be aware. Severe weather is possible over the next few days and could affect people in the concerned area. Yellow means that you should plan ahead thinking about possible travel delays, or the disruption of your day-to-day activities.»
Temperatures are expected to reach up to 34°C in Ibiza and Formentera, with Mallorca and Menorca predicted to reach temperatures up to 36°C.
The Boats Ibiza team urge visitors at this time to protect themselves from overexposure to these high temperatures by reapplying sunscreen often, protecting your head and eyes with a hat and sunglasses and staying well hydrated. The very old and very young are the most vulnerable to danger from extreme temperatures and should stay out of direct sun between 11am-3pm.
